Our clients who worked in the Shopko chain of discount department stores, like those in Toys ‘R Us, stayed to work through Christmas and beyond. In early 2019, they were told they were to receive severance, in a written letter stating the amount in dollars and cents – if they stayed to closed down their stores. Which they did. But then, as in Toys ‘R Us, they would told, “Sorry – there is no money to pay the creditors.” Jack and René filed their objection in the bankruptcy to stake their claim to severance, and Raisner Roupininan is negotiating the severance claim of several thousand of Shopko employees.
