SCANA, Fluor, and Westinghouse
Our clients worked for Fluor, the largest U.S. construction company, and Westinghouse, the leading nuclear reactor designer/engineer. Those firms were hired by South Carolina’ electric utility, SCANA/SCE&G, to build the first two nuclear power generators to go up in the U.S. in 30 years. Then, after almost 10 years of work and $10 billion spent, it all came to a screeching halt. Mid-morning one day, the project was abandoned. About 5,000 employees were sent home – terminated. We are WARN Act class counsel with claims against SCANA/SCE&G and Fluor in South Carolina, and against Westinghouse in bankruptcy court in New York. Affected employees and anyone seeking the most up-to-date information on the SCANA/Fluor case may follow this link to our WARN practice site.
Power source start-ups have developed innovative batteries to generate massive amounts of electricity for the grid or industries, but their efforts at commercialization proved unsuccessful, leading to shut downs. We have settled the WARN class action claims in Aquion Energy and ClearEdge, as well as against the parent of Metadigm. Our cases against Metadigm, itself, and Alevo are ongoing, as is our case against the parent of ClearEdge, Kohlberg Ventures.
Affected employees and anyone seeking the most up-to-date information on the Alevo case may follow this link to our WARN practice site. For the ClearEdge Power case, follow this link.
